about

The title track is a little tricky, in essence it’s about the perceived duality in our existence. The music was written to set the scene for the lyrical concept. The chorus, which represents mania, sounds so drastically different from the verses, which represents depression.
The chorus is more confident and in your face whereas the verses are meek and lacking that confidence in order to set the tone of being engulfed in your sadness and tangled up in the reasons why you should and shouldn't feel the way you do. The chorus is for those who always think they have the answer to cope with, treat or cure any kind of mental illness even though they've have no experience, insight or education. The verses are my responses to how those people affect can affect your perception.

Fun fact:
The first 3 lines actually have a double meaning,
‘Learning the limit of your own infinity can be troubling when you have a lot to answer for’
And
‘When you have a lot to answer for it's easy to slip into another personality’
So the second line is the pivot in the same way that this song is a pivot for the transition represented in this ep. The second verse has the same kind of double meaning structure with the first 3 lines, which is supposed to represent a different version of yourself dealing with the same thing. The "I guess that's just my way of playing favorites” lines are the constant between the two verses kind of symbolizing that you can wish yourself another life but the grass is never greener, which is more or less what the last song on the ep is about.

lyrics

\\\\Accepting Your Affinity////

Learning the limit of your own infinity can be troubling
When you have a lot to answer for

It's easy to slip into another personality

I don't expect you to set my feelings on the back burner
But I wouldn't put it past you either

I guess that's just my way of playing favorites

Watch me when I sleep
Keep adding weights to the chains that drown my under-proofed beliefs
Keep me weak, keep me weak
If you're looking for me
I'll be in the back meditating

Forgetting the physics of your inner gravity can be distracting
If you're always feeling bored

It's easy to drift into an alternate reality

I can't respect you if you don't make a change for the better
But I'll never learn to let it linger

I guess that's just my way of playing favorites

Watch me when I sleep
Keep adding weights to the chains that drown my under-proofed beliefs
Keep me weak, keep me weak
If you're looking for me
I'll be in the back meditating
